[해설]
재귀대명사는 주어가 목적어로 반복이 되는 경우 쓰일 수 있다. 예를 들어 I wrote the poem for myself 라고 하면 “그 시는 나 자신을 위해 쓴 것이다” 라는 것과 같이 주어와 목적어가 동일할 때 사용할 수 있다. 위 문장에서는 전치사 in 뒤에 발명품이라는 목적어가 의미상 다시 들어가야 하기 때문에 itself 라고 해야 한다. 따라서 정답은 (C)이다.
